"So close to reaching that famous happy end."
Since I was a kid I was a Disney fan. From, Princes and Princesses to Genies and Lions, Disney always hits the right spot to tell a great fantasy story.
Last year, Disney shared a very interesting plot. What would happen if a fantasy character would be brought to the pain of reality? No dwarfs and hollow trees... nor happily ever afters.
"
Enchanted" starts with a hand-drawn animated character of a lovely lady named Giselle (
Amy Adams ) who lives in a hollow tree with colorful forest creatures. While day dreaming of her Prince and a true love's kiss, a vicious troll attacks her house. And like all fairy tales, a prince named Edward (
James Marsden ) comes to her rescue, fell in love and planned to get married. Prince Edward's step mother, Queen Narissa (
Susan Sarandon ), heard this news. Afraid to lose her throne, she tricked Giselle to fall into a magical well which is a portal to a place with no Love, New York City. There, she met a single Dad and Lawyer, Robert (
Patrick Dempsey ), and her daughter, Morgan (
Rachel Covey ). Other characters in the movie are, Robert's fiance Nancy (
Idina Menzel), Queen Narissa's love-blinded servant Nathaniel (
Timothy Spall ) and narrated by
Julie Andrews.
Though this movie is a live-action "slightly" musical, like all Disney Animated Movie, it did not bore me to death. The songs were colorful and "princessy" which added fun to the whole movie. In a Disney movie, there has to be that "ONE" song, like
Aladdin's "A whole new world" or
Lion King's "Can you feel the love tonight", that keeps you singing for days. For this movie, its going to be Jon Maclaughlin's emotional "
So close" which, i think, really nailed it. Another good thing about Enchanted is the plot. Its like a sequel of all fairy tales. It tell that princes don't exactly wear funny tights to be charming and, moments does not need forest animals and a great background to be romantic.
Bad parts? Just some lame C.G. which was nearly unnoticeable because of other features of the movie that catches your attention.
Over all, Enchanting! :)
